Welcome back. So in this lesson, I'll be telling you what the one thing is that I see so many people do that actually lowers your number of leads and conversions. How many of you have gone to a website to just be slammed in the face with a popup like this one immediately when you arrive and after a few seconds, and how does that make you feel? Please, please, please don't do this. It is extremely annoying and in fact, people don't know you, so why should they even give you their email address? They are already bombarded in their inbox every single day from spammers. And they're going to feel that you're going to do the same. So people really struggle to just give their email addresses for nothing in return, and especially if they don't know you. Some of you might think, I'm just going to put it up just in case I'm going to get a lead or a conversion. But it actually hurts you, it actually deters people from contacting you. Imagine you have a potential client that's on the website and they could be actually a very good paying client and make some sales from them. But because you have this annoying pop-up they leave, they don't do anything on your site. They actually don't even want to interact with you. So in fact, you might have actually lost out on sales. So please, please, please do not have an immediate popup when they arrive on the website. I want you to think about this comparison. You're building a relationship between yourself and your visitor. It's like being a couple on a first date. You don't know each other, and you arrive at a romantic restaurant and instead of just getting a hello kiss or a hug when you meet the person, the person you are on the date with actually comes in and gives you a French kiss. Now your immediate reaction is shock, confusion, and even maybe a little bit angry and having your personal space and boundaries completely disrespected. You don't know this person. Well, before allowing the person into your personal space, you want to be flirted with. You want to have trust built up, and you want to get to know the other person much better before you take to the next level. And this is exactly the same, well not exactly the same, but similar to what happens on your website. For somebody to feel safe enough to give you their personal information, such as their email address, they need to trust you. They need to be convinced that you are worth it and that you're not going to abuse their information. So please don't annoy the visitor to a point where he or she leaves due to the immediate pop up. What I'm saying is, don't do it immediately, but you can still have popups, because in fact, they can be really effective in improving the number of leads and conversions for your website. But you just need to find that perfect time of entry for your visitors. Unbounce states is about 60 seconds is the perfect time of entry. Login Radius, other source says between one and two minutes in order for your visitor to get an overview of the page first and then say, "Yeah, I want to find out some more from this particular company or this person and I will give them my email address." So thank you for watching this lesson and remember, don't French kiss your visitor when they arrive on your website, give them a bit of time and give them something of value. All right, well, I'll see you in the next lesson.
